“If I ever get Alzheimer’s, I’ll kill myself.” He paused, holding a black comb in his left hand, clippers in the other. “I’ve seen what it did to my mother. I couldn’t go through that.” And he was dead serious.
This morning I received an email from the Alzheimer’s Association promoting their annual event, Memory Walk. In October, teams form around the country to raise funds for research and awareness about this incurable disease. Emails that come from the Alzheimer’s Association are usually sent to the trash, some without ever being opened or read. It’s become a habit, but every now and then I’ll peek, hoping to find some breaking news about a cure.
