Keesler’s “Goodbyes and Friends” unearthed

After leaving Air Force basic training in San Antonio, I spent the next ten months of my six year enlistment at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. There I would be taught my AFSC, Air Force Specialty Code: the art of maintaining, repairing, and installing air traffic control and weather radar. Those days of waking up at 4:30am, shining boots, throwing on the BDU’s, lining up in formation to the sound of reveille, then grabbing breakfast at the chow hall before marching to class, seem more like a movie than a chapter of my own life.
